The Short Version
PlannedPreparer on the free plan collects nothing. Zero. Your data lives in your browser and we never see it, touch it, or transmit it anywhere. Period.
Paid plans require an email address for your account and use Stripe for billing — we never handle your card details directly.
What We Collect
Free plan: Nothing at all. No analytics, no cookies, no tracking, no server calls. Your data is stored entirely in your browser's localStorage and never leaves your device.
Paid plans: We collect and store the following:
- Your email address (for account login and communication)
- Your name (for your account profile)
- Payment information processed exclusively through Stripe — we never see or store your full card number
- Your app data (clients, tasks, documents, files) stored encrypted in our cloud database
What We Never Do
- Never sell your data to third parties
- Never run advertising in PlannedPreparer
- Never track you across other websites
- Never read your client data
- Never share data with the IRS or any government agency
- No Google Analytics, no tracking pixels, no ad networks
Local Storage (Free Plan)
On the free plan, all of your data — clients, tasks, document checklists, settings — is stored using your browser's localStorage API. This means:
- Your data exists only on the specific browser and device where you created it
- No data is ever transmitted to any server or third party
- Clearing your browser data or localStorage will permanently delete your PlannedPreparer data
- We strongly recommend using the Export Data feature (Settings → Export) regularly to save a JSON backup file to your computer
- You can restore your data at any time using the Import feature
Cloud Storage (Paid Plans)
Paid plan data is stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted in US-based data centers. All data is:
- Encrypted at rest using AES-256 encryption
- Encrypted in transit using TLS 1.2+
- Accessible only by you through your authenticated account
- Retained for 90 days after account cancellation, then permanently deleted
- Available for full deletion at any time upon your request
Cookies
Free plan: Zero cookies. None. PlannedPreparer's free plan does not set any cookies whatsoever.
Paid plans: One authentication cookie only — an httpOnly, Secure cookie used to maintain your login session. This cookie cannot be read by JavaScript and is only sent to our authentication server.
We never use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party cookies of any kind.
Third-Party Services
The only third-party service used by PlannedPreparer is Stripe for payment processing on paid plans. Stripe handles all credit card information directly — we never see, store, or process your full card number.

We do not use any analytics tools, error tracking services, or advertising platforms.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access all of your data at any time through the app or by requesting an export
- Correct any information in your account through Settings
- Export all of your data as a JSON file at any time (Settings → Export Data)
- Delete your account and all associated data at any time

Changes to This Policy
If we make material changes to this privacy policy, paid plan users will be notified by email before the changes take effect. Free plan users should check this page periodically for updates.
